According to ancient scriptures, following the great cosmic dissolution, Brahma sought Shiva’s guidance on recreating the Universe. Shiva instructed Brahma to place a sacred Kumbha (Pot) filled with Amrit (Divine Elixir) and the primordial energy of creation atop Mount Meru.
