Sri Rama Navami celebrates the descent of the seventh avatar of the Supreme Protector and Preserver Vishnu on earth. He was born on the Navami Tithi, Shuka Paksha, in the month of Chaitra. His birth heralded the destruction of evil forces, and being the Maryada Purushottam; he exemplified the perfect being. Sri Rama was a glorious embodiment of spiritual consciousness and noble virtues. Why is Sri Rama Navami Celebrated?

Sri Rama Navami celebrates the descent of Sri Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, on earth to destroy evil. It falls on the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra. Sri Rama embodies Divinity, love, compassion, generosity, humility, and a sense of duty. He taught the world to choose Dharma and Moksha through his noble choices. Sri Rama Navami is celebrated by performing the Sri Rama Navami Pooja and Sri Rama Navami Homam.

How to Perform Sri Rama Navami Pooja

Wake up early and clean the house and Pooja area
Take a bath and wear fresh clothes
A day−long fast can be observed
Pooja Vidhi should be initiated with salutations to Lord Ganapati, followed by Dhyanam of Sri Rama, in front of his idol

After Dhyanam, invoke Sri Rama with Padya Pooja
Offer water, flowers, dhoop (agarbathi), diya, haldi, chandan, kumkum, fruits and sweets
Conclude the Pooja by performing Aarti to Sri Rama
