OVERVIEW

OVERVIEW

Makara Jyothi: Invoke Ayyappa on his Birthday for Success, Wealth, and Prosperity Blessings

Makara Jyothi is a rare astronomical event that occurs once a Year when the Surya (Sun) enters Makara Rashi (Zodiac sign of Capricorn). On this auspicious Day, devotees can view the Divine light of Lord Ayyappa’s star, Uttara Phalguni, which shines brightly atop the Sacred mountain of Sabarimala only for a few seconds.

Lord Ayyappa’s Divine Control Over Shani

According to traditional beliefs, Lord Ayyappa was born of the spiritual union of Goddess Mohini, the feminine avatar of Lord Vishnu, the Supreme Preserver, and Lord Shiva, the Ultimate Destroyer and Restorer. Lord Ayyappa is twice-blessed with their combined powers and is a warrior deity. Revered for his ascetic devotion to Dharma (righteousness), he has the power to destroy negative forces. He has Divine control of Shani, the God of Justice & Retribution and is known as ‘Shaneeshwaran Ayyappan’.

In 2023, it is of particular importance due to the upcoming Shani Peyarchi from Makara Rashi to its Mool Trikona Rashi, Kumbha. Appeasing Shani for the duration of its stay in Kumbha Rashi could bring about his powerful influence on essential elements of your life, including finances, relationships, and health. This could result in new alliances, friendships, enhanced finances, and abundance, as well as possibilities for advancement and achievement in life.

Legend of Lord Ayyappa and Shani

According to legend, Lord Ayyappa and Lord Shani had a disagreement about the negative effects of Shani’s ruling period. Lord Ayyappa wanted to protect his devotees and declared that they should undertake Ayyappa Deeksha, a 41-day period of severe austerity that was meant to counter the difficulties of Sade Sati (7 ½ Year period ruled by Shani). Through the practice of austerity, Lord Ayyappa bestowed his powerful protection on his devotees and defended them against the challenges of the Sade Sati.

Invoking the Powers of Lord Ayyappa in a Special Homam can Reduce the Negative Impact of Shani Afflictions:

  • Sade Sati- (7 ½ Year period of repaying karmic debts of the past, Shani transiting in 12th, 1st, and 2nd House from Janma Rashi)
  • Ashtama Shani- (2 ½ Year period when Shani transits in 8th House from Janma Rashi)
  • Artha Ashtama Shani- (Shani transits in the 4th House from Janma Rashi)
  • Kandaka Shani- (Shani transiting in 1st, 4th, 8th and 10th House from Janma Rashi)
  • Shani Dasha and Bhukti- (Major and Minor Planetary Periods)
  • Shani Dosha- (Shani afflictions)

Significance of Makara Jyothi Ceremonies

The sighting of Makara Jyothi (few seconds when Lord Ayyappa’s nakshatram shines brightly atop the Sabarimala mountain) marks the Day of Makara Sankranti in Kerala. Celebrating Makara Jyothi in Sabarimala temple is of great significance as it is believed that Lord Ayyappa asserts himself as Makara Jyothi to bestow his auspicious blessings on devotees. Participating in ceremonies on the Day can control Shani’s negative impact, enhance positive thinking, help overcome challenges, gain wisdom and strength, and invite wealth, well-being, success, and prosperity blessings.

To help control the malefic effects of Saturn, remove negativities, fulfil wishes and invite prosperity blessings, AstroVed will be performing Exclusive Makara Jyothi Services that include Ayyappa Special Homams, Temple Poojas, Archanas, Abishekams and Kerala-style Poojas to invoke Lord Ayyappa’s blessings for wealth, prosperity, and success.
