Performing rituals like Homa, mantra chanting such as Hanuman Chalisa and Sundara Kanda from Ramayana, and special Poojas on Hanuman’s birthday can appease the mighty God and help seek his protection from all kinds of negativities. People observe Vrat and meditate on Hanuman on this day. Devotees also offer Tulsi, butter, Sindoor, bananas, Urad dhal Vada Mala, and mustard oil to Hanuman on his birthday.

On Hanuman Jayanti festival, people wake up early, have a bath, and prepare for the Pooja. It is considered auspicious to wear red clothes on this day. The house and the sacred altar is cleaned and the idol or photo of Hanuman is placed. Sacred offerings such as flowers, fruits, betel leaves, butter, and Prasad are offered to Hanuman. People who observe Vrat on this day usually abstain from consuming garlic and onions and have a single meal. Hanuman songs and mantras are chanted during Pooja.
