What Is Gau Daan?

Although there are several forms of Daan, Gau Daan or cow donation is considered the most sacred of all donations that one can do in a lifetime. According to Garuda Purana, a cow can carry am Atman beyond the three kinds of hells and resolve all kinds of sins committed in the present and previous Janma. This sacred text also mentions that the Atman has to cross a river called ‘Vaitharini,’ which stinks unbearably.
