As per traditional belief, worshipping Vel is believed to help strike a balance between gaining knowledge, controlling passion, and removing ignorance. Praying to Muruga's Vel is believed to grant courage, enabling individuals to face life's challenges with strength and determination. The Vel is believed to help you overcome hurdles, both physical and spiritual, and guide you on the path of righteousness.

Directions For Using the Vel

  • Place the Vel on a clean, sacred altar or a prayer room facing east or north.
  • You can perform Abishekam (Hydration Pooja) to the Vel with turmeric water, rose water, or milk according to your personal practice- daily, weekly, or monthly. After Abishekam, rinse the Vel with water and wipe it dry.
  • You can put a round dot of sandalwood paste at the center of the Vel.
  • You can sit in front of the Vel and meditate daily during Mars Hora or on the 6th Moon.
  • You can also offer fresh red flowers while chanting the Mantra 'Om Saravana Bava' 108 times daily during Mars Hora, Tuesdays, or on the 6th Moon days.

Please Note: The Vel color may change over a period, especially with regular Abishekam (Hydration Pooja); however, this color change does not dilute the power of the energized Vel.
