What is a homam and what is its significance?

A homam is a Fire Lab. This is also known as a Yagna or Fire Ritual. Enlightened Masters consider this ritual to be the most evolved spiritual technology on the planet. Fire is chosen as the medium for this ritual, as it is considered a purifying and transformational agent, a form of energy that helps us connect with the divine. Fire acts as the bridge between the gross material world and the subtle spiritual dimensions. The Fire Lab is a sophisticated use of fire, and acting as a multi-dimensional communication technology, it is used to invoke different aspects of divine consciousness known as Archetypes or Gods, Goddesses and Angels.

Archetypes exist internally as dormant potential within our psychophysical system, as well as externally as supernatural beings whom our prophets, seers and mystics from every religion were in contact with. Every one of them has unique abilities that can transform our reality in profound ways. A homam, or Fire Lab, is the most effective way to access them.

What is the Karuka Homam and what is its significance?

The Karuka Homam is a special Fire Lab done for removing obstacles due to negative forces like black magic, etc. As this ritual performed using Durva Grass, this homam is also known as the Durva Homam. The presiding deity of this ceremony is Lord Ganapati, the son of Lord Shiva, who is loved and worshipped as the remover of obstacles and harbinger of success. Hence, this worship is done to him on the Hasta star days. The frequency at which this needs to be done will depend on the condition of the individual and his or her requirements. The spiritual guides or astrologers can assess the need based on a reading of the birth chart, and, accordingly, this ritual will be performed every month for a period of 7, 13 or even 18 months, as the case may be, on the day of the Hasta star.
