The Legend Of Rudraksha
Maha Shivaratri Images

The significance and benefits of Rudraksha have been explained by Shiva himself to Parvati in the Shiva Mahapurana. As per sacred texts, once Shiva sat for meditation for 1000 years and when he opened his eyes, tear drops fell down to grow into the great Rudraksha tree. ‘Rudra’ denotes Shiva and ‘Aksha’ means tears, and hence, Rudraksha means Shiva’s tear drops of ecstasy.
