Dasa Chandi homa is a unique ritual performed by skilled and well-experienced priests starting with Devi Mahatmyam chanting on the first day evening followed by the homa in the morning. First, our expert priests will complete Devi Mahatmyam Parayanam (Recitation of 700 Verses). Devi Mahatmyam, also known as Durga Saptashati celebrates Goddess Chandi in 700 verses, grouped under 13 chapters and portrays the victory of good over evil through the stories of Goddess Durga slaying demons.
Second, as noted in Devi Mahatmyam, nine Vedic priests will perform the powerful Dasa Chandi homa while the remaining priest will perform a Tarpanam ritual called Bindu Tarpanam. The sacred ingredients of milk, banana and Dhruva grass are used for performing this unique Tarpanam ritual. During the homa, a Vedic sacrifice made by combining curd and urad dhal will be offered to Goddess Chandi, which is believed to compel her to bestow her blessings.
