This homa (fire lab) is performed to honor the Akashic bookkeeper or divine accountant, ‘Chitragupta.’ According to the sacred text Padma Purana, Chitragupta is the lieutenant of Yama, the God of justice and dharma. His duty is to maintain the good and bad records of everyone on earth in a heavenly database known as the ‘Akashic Records,’ which is your divine logbook of your doings.
