Ganesha is a highly popular and widely worshiped God. He is hailed as the remover of obstacles and the harbinger of success. Known by many names such as Ganapati, Vinayaka, Vigneshwara, and Pillaiyar, this unique divinity with an elephant head is the Divine son of Shiva and Parvati and the brother of Muruga or Subramanya. As he can clear impediments and help any endeavor to achieve its purpose, it is a tradition to invoke Ganesha before any new beginnings, starting any activity of significance, auspicious event, rituals, or new initiatives.
Ganesha Pooja is the ceremonial worship dedicated to Ganesha, with the chanting of the Ganesha Pooja Mantra, seeking his Divine grace.
Ganesha is regarded as a simple God who is pleased by pure-hearted devotion. He is also considered the Gateway Deity because he provides access to all other Gods and Goddesses. He is highly compassionate and can foresee and remove both seen and unseen predicaments from the lives of his devotees. Therefore, he is worshipped as the Lord of Good Luck. He is always ready to solve problems when prayed with sincerity and faith and alleviate setbacks or suffering relating to all aspects of life like finance, relationships, career, or health.
Ganesha is also the overlord of the malefic shadow planet Ketu and can mitigate its adverse effects.
There is an interesting legend about Ganesha's advent. Parvati created a sturdy young boy as a personal guard to her. Once, while she was taking a bath, Shiva tried to enter her place but was stopped by this dutiful son of Parvati, as instructed by her. Shiva felt offended; the ensuing arguments between the two led to a fight, and soon, in a fit of rage, Shiva chopped off the boy's head. Distraught with grief, Parvati withdrew into a shell, landing the universe and its beings in severe distress.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Shiva tried to pacify Parvati and revived her son with the head of an elephant. He also accepted him as his own son, made him the head of the Ganas, his mighty attendants, and declared that his worship would ensure success. Thus, the son of Shiva-Parvati became Ganapati, the mighty God of new beginnings and success.
Ganesha is a merciful divinity anyone can propitiate through simple and sincere prayers. However, this worship is especially suitable for those who want to clear all obstacles in life and succeed in their endeavors, wish for academic achievement and to acquire knowledge and new skills, seek to find solutions for health, monetary, and relationship problems, desire to accumulate wealth and assets and accomplish goals, and also those with unfavorable Ketu placement in their birth charts.
Experienced priests with sound expertise in doing such ritualistic worship perform Ganesha Pooja, as per procedures prescribed in Sacred texts, chanting the powerful Ganesha Pooja Mantra and seeking Ganapati's benevolent grace.
Ganesha Pooja with the chanting of the Ganesha Pooja Mantra performed with devotion and faith, can bless with intelligence and understanding to acquire knowledge and skills, help succeed in new ventures, investments, and business deals, reduce suffering from diseases or health issues, bestow wealth and prosperity, restore love and bonding in relationships, and overcome hindrances and achieve goals.
