Goddess Ashtalakshmi

Lakshmi is the Supreme Goddess of Wealth, who also represents fortune, fertility, prosperity, beauty, and auspiciousness. She is the universal Mother. Being the consort of the Supreme Protector Vishnu, she also remains his Shakti, the Divine energy, and forms part of Tridevi, the Supreme Trinity of Goddesses.

Goddess Ashtalakshmi refers to the 8 Divine forms of Lakshmi.

The Ashtalakshmi Forms

The Ashtalakshmi forms represent the 8 different facets of wealth that fulfill the various needs and desires of an individual. These encompass aspects like health, wealth, fertility, learning, courage, power, progeny, and victory that occupy a pride of place in anyone's life on this planet.

These Ashtalakshmi forms are – Adi Lakshmi, the Primordial aspect; Dhana Lakshmi, the Wealth aspect; Dhanya Lakshmi, the Food Grain aspect; Gaja Lakshmi, the Elephant aspect denoting animal wealth or royalty; Santana Lakshmi, the Progeny-Blessing aspect; Dhairya Lakshmi, the Courage aspect; Vijaya Lakshmi, the Victory aspect; and Vidya Lakshmi, the Learning aspect. Devotees pray to these Goddesses in temples, homes, and public places, as individual divinities and also as a combined Divine form of Ashtalakshmi.

It is believed that Ashtalakshmi Pooja (Ashta Lakshmi Pooja or Ashta Lakshmi Puja) is a highly efficacious worship to propitiate Goddess Ashtalakshmi, the 8 powerful Lakshmi forms and earn her grace.

The Ashtalakshmi forms bestow wealth and prosperity, transcending the financial dimension and covering all facets of human existence. The grace of Goddess Ashtalakshmi can wipe out all forms of poverty and wants from the people's lives and bestow them with ease, plenty, and welfare.

Ashtalakshmi Pooja (Ashta Lakshmi Pooja or Ashta Lakshmi Puja) can bring lasting relief, particularly for problems due to lack of steady income or insufficient monetary receipts, poverty, financial constraints, losses, etc., and hence, is strongly recommended for those reeling under such conditions. The Ashtalakshmi Pooja (Ashta Lakshmi Pooja or Ashta Lakshmi Puja) can eliminate difficulties on all these fronts and grant comfort, contentment, and joy to the devotees.

Lakshmi is the presiding deity of Planet Venus who rules Friday so that weekday is regarded as auspicious, Sacred, and suitable for Lakshmi worship. Hence, devotees can perform Ashtalakshmi Pooja (Ashta Lakshmi Pooja or Ashta Lakshmi Puja) on Fridays and also on Panchami thithi, the fifth lunar Day, Pournami, the Full Moon, and Amavasya, the New Moon Days. They can also choose any auspicious Hora, the period of the Day lasting for about an hour, for this worship.

Expert priests with vast experience perform the Pooja in accordance with the guidelines specified in the scriptures, chanting powerful Mantras dedicated to the Goddess. According to belief, the Pooja can please the Goddess immensely and get her benevolent grace to the devotees.
