The month of March is named after Mars, according to the Gregorian calendar. Mars is the Roman God of War. The month of March brings with it the promise of warmer, sunny days, ideal for gardening when it brings the first day of spring with the vernal equinox. The March equinox that occurs in the northern hemisphere marks the advent of the spring season. It signifies the migration of birds and mating for animals. Plants grow in abundance.
