Chandi Kavacham is a hymn that invokes Goddess Chandi for protection and blessings. Chandi is the most ferocious form of the Divine Mother, Shakti. She is the combined form of 3 goddesses – Kali, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. She is also the supreme Goddess in Devi Mahatmya. Kavacham means ‘armor. ’ The Sloka describes the different names of the goddess, which are associated with different parts of the human body. Each name has its own quality and energy. It is customary to chant Chandi Kavacham during Navratri.
