Every year during the months of September - October, we celebrate Navratri - the descent of the Divine Feminine to the Earth plane. Navratri literally means "nine nights” and in this time period the energy of 3 primary Shaktis of the Divine Feminine, the Supreme Goddess, is invoked.

The idea behind Navratri is the time to cleanse the evil characteristics like jealousy, greed, ignorance, anger, hatred, violence, etc. inside and outside of us. It is important to understand that each of the negative human qualities exists in the form of demons, externally in the invisible sphere. Goddesses killing the demons at this time of year is an annual event which is astrologically and astronomically significant. Navratri starts just after the New Moon of Mahalaya, i.e, on Oct 5th, 2013 IST and ends on Oct 13th, IST. Vijaya Dasami falls on Oct 14th, IST.

Chandi Homa

A Chandi Homa is an elaborate fire ritual for the fierce Goddess called Chandi. This is the name given to the Divine Feminine energy or ‘shakti’ that is the combined fierce form of all Goddesses- The Supreme Shakti or Universal Life Force.

Chandi Shakti is very fierce and powerful. She is the primordial energy that is responsible for the creation, sustenance and destruction of this entire universe. She is the sum total of the energies of all beings of this universe. She is the savior of her children on the earth and protects them from all the evil. Performing Chandi Homa once a year, bestows you with the power and supremacy to fulfill and accomplish success in your life span. The word ‘Nava’ means nine and ‘ratri’ means night and the festival Navratri meaning ‘nine nights’. Connect with the Devine Feminine on the 9 Nights of Goddess (Navratri 2013), which starts from October 5th – October 13th, IST. It usually commences from the first day of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of Ashwin, which is then celebrated for 9 nights.

On these powerful days, Mother Goddess manifests herself into 3 major deities: Durga (Energy), Lakshmi (Wealth), and Saraswati (Knowledge). They are not just mythological characters; they are real and available during the Nine Nights of the Goddess.

Navratri 2013

Navratri 2013 begins with the planet Mars moving from its sign of debilitated Cancer. Mars in Leo is powerful. The planets Rahu, Saturn in Libra receiving the aspect of Jupiter is also good. The planet in Scorpio receiving the aspect of Mars is also good. All these planetary placements and aspects will bring in splendid energy in family happiness and career of all who worship the Goddesses during Navratri.

Goddess Durga

Navratri 2013 begins with the star Hasta, whose overlord is Moon and deity is Parvati. Goddess Durga is a form of Parvati and offering prayers to Her on 3 days will help in destroying all impurities. Durga strengthens relationships, destroys our impurities and also removes the negative influences of Rahu. People with Moon sign Aries and Scorpio, birth stars Mrigasira, Dhanistha and Chitra should especially worship Durga in order to receive her blessings during Navratri.



Goddess Lakshmi

Goddess Lakshmi destroys poverty and grants wealth, prosperity and riches. She is the Overlord of planet Venus and brings comforts, pleasures etc. The planetary aspects are very much favorable for the people with the Moon signs – Taurus, Libra, Sagittarius and Pisces to worship Lakshmi during Navratri 2013. People with birth star Pushya, Anuradha, Uttrabadrapada, Ashlesha, Revati and Jyeshta should offer prayers to gain wealth and prosperity.



Goddess Saraswati

Offering prayers to Saraswati during Navratri will stimulate our creativity, understanding skills etc. People born in the Moon signs Taurus, Gemini, Libra and Virgo and in the stars of Bharani, Purvaphalguni, Purvashada, Ashlesha, Revathi and Jyeshta should worship Saraswati during Navratri to receive her blessings. Vijaya Dasami - Oct 14th:The Victory Day

The 9 nights of Goddess, Navratri generates and accumulates the power required to destroy demons, who are very powerful. The 9th night is the peak of this energy build up and the demons are destroyed. On the 10th Moon, this victory is consolidated and celebrated as Vijaya Dasami.

Navaratri begins on 5th October 2013 and the Goddess worshipped on these days will be Shri Maha Kali (Durga), Shri Maha lakhsmi (Lakshmi) and Shri Maha Sarawathi (Saraswati). The concept of Sandhi Pooja (Treaty worship) has special significance during Navratri. It is done when Ashtami Tithi ends and Navami Tithi starts. It is considered that Devi Chamunda appeared during this time to kill the demons Chand and Mund.

Sandhi Pooja prevails for two Ghatis which exactly lasts 48 minutes and it can fall at any time of the day. In 2013, Sandhi Pooja muhurta falls on 12th October 2013, Saturday and the muhurtha is 15:48:26 to 16:36:27, IST. This time is really auspicious and can be used to offer prayers and rituals or to perform meditation. It is also considered that starting any new ventures/projects during this time will give highly beneficial results.
