April 24th of this year is an astrologically significant and important festival for wealth called Akshaya Tritiyai. It is the 3rd moon in the house of Aries. Akshaya means "not decreasing". This is a fantastic concept, because people don't usually think about it in terms of not decreasing wealth.

On this day Kubera, the banker in heaven was blessed by Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. Kubera has an inexhaustible supply, his money never decreases. This is a day of celebration for both Lakshmi as well as Kubera.
Another story related with Akshaya Tritiya: Kusela went to meet his childhood friend Lord Krishna on this day with the hope of solving his poverty as Lord Krishna was a very rich king. However, he could only afford to carry along some rice flakes to greet Krishna.
Though he was ashamed initially to share the rice flakes with Lord Krishna, Krishna forced him to give those flakes. The moment Krishna tasted those flakes, Kusela's poverty vanished and he became rich overnight.
