Rare 2008 Saturn Pradoshams (January 5th & 19th, 2008)

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Pradosham means the removal of sins and occurs monthly during the 13th phase of the Moon (waxing or waning) to the Lord of Sin Removal, Siva. The planet Saturn is often considered the Lord of Karma whose power can transform kings to a pauper and visa versa. Saturn is also an evolving form of Lord Siva himself. Pradosham days which occur on Saturday, are considered the most powerful karma removing day of all pradoshams.

In 2008 there are only 3 Sani (Saturn) Pradosham days to take advantage of, and 2 of these occur in January. Be sure not to miss this opportunity at the start of the New Year to erase the trials of 2007 and begin anew.

January 14th Vedic Winter Solstice

Friday, December 28th, 2007

January 14th (the 15th in India) marks the dawn of time in heaven. This signifies the return of light to the earth plane after 6 months of darkness. On this day the Sun moves into Capricorn. This is the most auspicious time to start a new business, relationship or any other activity. Things done during this time will have divine support.

The energy starts shifting on the 14th through the 16th. All of these days have tremendous prosperity energy. Indra, the king of heaven, rejoices during this time of abundance, fun, and luxury and happiness. To mark this occasion and to welcome the Sun into Capricorn we will do a special homa (fire ritual) for the Sun on January 15th at the Cosmic Sun Vortex Temple in India.

The Sun governs ones health both physical and mental, self-esteem, proper functioning of the heart and the vision.

Who should do this homa? It is recommended that everyone participate in the homa. The homa will be particularly good for those born with the following Ascendants and/or Sun Signs: Leo, Gemini, Cancer, Capricorn, Aquarius. People born with the above Zodiacs as their Moon sign, also will be benefited by this.

About Fire Rituals:
The strongest remedy, which can be used to alleviate karmic difficulty, is the performance of a fire ritual also known as a homa or yagna. The fire ritual is a Vedic ceremony, which is performed at a dedicated temple. During the ritual Brahmin priests continuously chant specific astrological mantras (sounds). The priests make offerings, such as rice or clarified butter, to invoke planetary deities or the gods, so that grace and intervention may be given to the person requesting the remedy. A day or two after the remedy a person may experience a relief from a negative karma, which often feels like a weight has been lifted off their shoulders. Due to this relief a person may also feel more energetic. Although it is recommended that the person be at the ceremony, fire rituals are often performed in abstentia.

Cosmic Sun Vortex (Keela Suriya Moolai Temple)

The cosmic Sun vortex is a small geographical location where the energy of millions of suns in the galaxy emanate. It is interesting to know that the siddhas perceived of the millions of suns in the universe and still concluded that the earth plane controlled those Suns, even though they are millions of light years apart. The siddhas claimed that the Suns in the galaxy visit this place on a daily basis to receive energy for their sustenance. Thanks to Sri Venkataraman Swami, the living siddha of the Agastiya tradition, for revealing the secrets of this unique sun vortex.

Thai Poosam The Vel Becomes Powerful Swami Ramalingam’s Day of Ascension into Light

Friday, December 28th, 2007

The upcoming Full Moon on January 21st will be the Thai Full Moon, called Thai Poosam. There is a very special spiritual significance to this Full Moon as the star Pushya (Poosam) is considered by many to be the most auspicious star for spiritual development. Pushya means “nuture” and is in the sign Cancer owned by the Moon, the Mother. The deity associated with Pushya is also Brihaspati, the Guru or teacher and so it has a property of enlightening spiritual growth. It gains even further significance as February 1st happens to be Thursday (the day ruled by Guru).

The Pushya star coinciding with the Full Moon will give one the ability to come closer to God. Even after departing this earth, the siddhas and seers maintain that those devoted to God, even kings first visit the world of Pushya star, and only then reach heaven.

It was on a Thai Poosam in 1874 that Swami Ramalingam made his final merger with Light. Ramalingam was a tremendous Saint who was able to transform his physical body into a body made of Light. He lived and maintained his body of light for 1-1/2 years for all to witness. On the Pushya star and Full Moon day, he made his final merger with the light complete and physically disappeared from the earth plane. No traces of his body were ever found. Click here to read more about Swami Ramalingam’s Jyoti Day.

In mythological times, it was on Thai Poosam day that Goddess Parvati, presented the Shakti Vel, the Divine Spear Weapon, to Lord Muruga to defeat the demon Surabhaduman. For many, Thai Poosam is the most powerful day to pray to the Vel and Muruga for destruction of all enemies, diseases and debts. The eminent spear in the hand of Lord Muruga has a lot of significance in the path of bestowing grace during the era. The Vel also is called as Jyoti, or Light.

Dattatreya Siva Baba advocates “The easiest way to access God’s grace is to feed a famished human being starving for food”.The most auspicious day to sponsor feeding is this Thai Poosam. We invite everyone to give food donations to the homeless in your neighborhood or volunteer at a local feeding center near you. Should you also wish to make a charitable gift to Tripura for feeding the hungry, you can do so by clicking the link below.
