Simple Practical Tips for Beginners Working with Time Shaktis

(Special Energies for Unique Time Units)

Gayathri Mantra is a special greeting and thanks giving to the Sun for illumination and light. Baba suggests this for sunrise and sunset:

OM BHUR BHUVA SWAHA
TAT SAVITUR VARENYAM
BHARGO DEVASYA DHIMAHE
DHIYO YONA PRACHODAYAT

Sunrise practice: When possible, watch the sun as it rises, repeat internally the Gayathri mantra and make a prayer to the Sun "please remove my ignorance, make me pure like you". Offer water to the Sun with right hand 3 times repeating "Om Suryaya Namaha".

Sunset practice: In the evening, when possible, watch the Sun as it sets repeating internally the Gayathri mantra, facing toward the Sun and allowing any visions to come during and after it sets. Eyes may be closed during meditation.

Days of Week: Baba suggests beginners start with lighting planetary incense and praying each morning to planet(s) ruling the day or associated with the day as well as their overlords. (Astroved offers Navagraha (9 Planet) Incense created with herbs sacred to each planet. Click here.)

Sunday: Ruling Planet is Sun: Om Suryaya Namaha; Overlord of Sun is Shiva: Om Namasivaya
Also associated with Sunday is Ketu: Om Ketave Namaha; Overlord of Ketu is Ganesha: Om Gum Ganashaya Namaha

Monday: Ruling Planet is Moon: Om Chandraya Namaha; Overlord of Moon is Parvati: Om Kleem Parvatiyei Namaha
Also associated with Monday is Rahu: Om Rahave Namaha; Overlord of Rahu is Durga: Om Dum Durgiyei Namaha

Tuesday: Ruling Planet is Mars: Om Mangalaya Namaha; Overlord of Mars is Muruga: Om Saum Saravanabavaya Namaha

Wednesday: Ruling Planet is Mercury: Om Budhaya Namaha; Overlord of Mercury is Vishnu: Om Namo Narayanaya Namaha

Thursday: Ruling Planet is Jupiter: Om Gurave Namaha; Overlord of Jupiter is Shiva: Om Namasivaya

Friday: Ruling Planet is Venus: Om Shukraya Namaha; Overlord of Venus is Lakshmi: Om Shreem Lakshmiyei Namaha

Saturday: Ruling Planet is Saturn: Om Sanecharaya Namaha; Overlord of Saturn is Hanuman: Om Hanumanpatye Namaha

Birthstar(s) of the Day: After becoming comfortable with the beginner step of paying attention to the sunrise, sunset and days of the week and the planets associated with them and the planetary overlords, an "intermediate" time element to observe is the birthstar(s) of each day.
The Moon travels through 27 birthstars (also called Nakshatras) on a regular basis in a fixed rotation. The Moon spends a variable amount of time in each birthstar depending on the Moons proximity to the earth and other factors. On any given solar day, the Moon may travel through one or more birthstars.
Each birthstar contains different energies. The Moon affects our mind and emotions, so whatever birthstar the Moon is currently traveling through colors the energies of the day for everyone. Each birthstar is ruled by a planet, and each planet has an overlord associated with it. You can pray to the birthstar, the ruling planet and the planetary overlord for their blessings.
Each birthstar can be invoked as OM [birthstar name] NAMAHA; each ruling planet and planetary overlord can be invoked with the same mantras related to them as given in the Days of the Week section above.
