The Siddhas and the ancient seers clearly understood the importance of purifying ones souls. By doing so, the native could realize material and spiritual blessings. So they recommended a ritual by name “Pradosham” which means "to remove sins". This is a divine solution to purify your soul. This can also take place on a daily basis and is referred as daily Pradosham.
Since Saturday is the day ruled by Saturn, and Saturn is a form of Siva, when Pradosham falls on a Saturday the rituals done to remove karma and receive Saturn's grace are greatly amplified. Saturn is one of the most powerful Planets. He moves slowly through the zodiac, 2-1/2 years per sign, so his influence is felt very keenly.
Another fierce form of Siva is Rudra. Rudra's grace can eliminate diseases, enemies, and destructive negative influences. The rituals done on a Saturday Pradosham are also extremely auspicious to Rudra.
Astroved is performing Abishekam rituals this Pradosham which falls on May 3rd and May 17th at the ancient Koyambedu Siva Temple. Both these Pradoshams fall on a Saturday and are considered very auspicious. Click here to order.
Koyambedu Siva Temple:
Koyambedu Siva temple is the place where the first Pradosham was conducted in the Krita Yuga or Satya Yuga when Lord Siva and Goddess Parvathi were in their physical forms. If one attends a Pradosham Pooja once in this temple, it is equal to attending 100 Pradoshams. The daily Pradosham performed in this temple is very effective because of its association with Nandi, the bull of Siva. The bull was sent to the earthplane to initiate the daily removal of sins at this temple.
According to legend, the Sage Valmiki lived in this temple. Lord Siva, known here as Kurungaleeswarar, was worshipped by Lava and Kusa, the twin sons of Rama from the Indian epic the Ramayana. Lava and Kusa were able to rid themselves of their sins at this temple.
Note: If you are enrolled in our Daily Karma Removal Program, you are automatically included in the special Pradosham rituals.
